Sandra Ndoro is a multidisciplinary Zimbabwean artist whose work explores storytelling through material, memory, and shared human experience. Working across textiles, mixed media, participatory practice, and eco-conscious processes, Sandra holds a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Fine Art. 

Sandra has exhibited primarily with Corridor Gallery and DPA Gallery (and participated in group exhibitions) in Zimbabwe. Sandra’s practice draws on traditional textile techniques such as batik and fabric dyeing, alongside stitching, mending, and surface design as processes of reflection, care, and transformation. Alongside her studio practice, she facilitates art workshops for children, schools, and community groups, and has worked in mental health spaces using art as a wellness tool to support emotional awareness and wellbeing.

Central to Sandra’s residency was the hosting of a workshop series aimed at upskilling and bringing together members of our Porterville and Monte Bertha communities. Participants were both young and old, as well as persons with disabilities (through an informal partnership with the non-profit organisation, Wonder Stars). The experience was deeply moving to witness, as participants worked on individual fabric art pieces as well as a larger, communal work; all while sharing personal stories and histories. Aloe House was a buzz of activity over the two days of interactive workshops.

Through material exploration, mending and painting, participants witnessed how textiles can hold personal and collective narratives while creating spaces for dialogue, presence, and connection. This practice resonated deeply with our community and participants were reluctant to end the sessions.

Sandra’s residency culminated in a communal exhibition at the Bettie Julius Library in Monte Bertha, Porterville.
