PMAR’s first fully-paid Artist-in-residence for 2025, Seth Deacon, took up residency at Purple Mountain Arts Residency from the 3rd to the 24 of March.

Seth Deacon is a queer interdisciplinary artist based in South Africa. His work, while varied in scope and style, is at its core an exploration of the power and potential in inhabiting peripheral spaces and embracing hybridity and change. He received a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, and has exhibited work both locally and internationally, including Iran, USA, UK and China. His art is often informed by his work in social justice communities, especially in the areas of LGBTQIA+ activism and education.
