Deirdre works as a culture, arts, and heritage specialist across the globe. Her work over the last three decades has primarily focused on the interwoven relationship between being and culture. Over the last while she has worked in the valorisation of living heritage as a key pillar to community development which catalyses social and spatial justice. She has always written; from short missives, to lengthier poems and thought pieces. It is now, post-50 that she has begun to fully embrace her artistic self with her first self-published poetry collection titled; ‘Belonging’ (2020). Gardening has always been her first love, and now, in this stage of her life, it has become a deeper artistic practice and poetic conversation between herself and land. Her writing appears on various platforms including; ichngoforum.org. The Elephant Agenda, (Archival Platform University of Cape Town, Trentham book series), examines the art of memory making.
